The Bears in Athens, TX at the Union Camporee, 2007
The Burleson Bears Pathfinder Club is a church-centered recreational and spiritual program of the Burleson Seventh-day Adventist Church. The program is designed for both boys and girls, grades 5 - 10. The program offers action, adventure, challenge and group activities that produce team spirit and loyalty to the church.
My name is Dwayne Howerton, aka Head Bear. I am the Pathfinder Director for the Burleson Adventist Church. We are looking forward to an exciting year in Pathfinders. The Pathfinder Leadership Team’s goal is to give our Pathfinders a VOICE for Jesus. Here is what we mean by that. First we want to give them Vision – the ability to anticipate what is to come, so that they are prepared to stand firm for Jesus. Second we want to instill Optimism because what is impossible with man is possible with God. Third is Idealism, helping our Pathfinders to pursue and cherish God’s high and noble principles. Fourth is to show Commitment in all we do. Pathfinders is about pressing forward to complete the task set before us and the commission Jesus gave to us. Last but not least is Enthusiasm. We want our Pathfinders to be excited about Jesus and have fun. We will encourage our Pathfinders to be an example in their homes, witnesses in their neighborhoods, and an outreach to their community.
